What is built in Denham
Denham Village is a single protected street of brick and rendered cottages and larger houses, several of them listed, running down to the church and the river, and it looks almost nothing like the rest of the parish. Higher Denham, New Denham and the housing toward Denham Green are twentieth century: interwar and postwar semi-detached and detached houses, some of it built on former estate land, with much larger and more regular window openings than the old street.
What that means for your windows
The two halves need opposite approaches. In the old village the openings are irregular and the frontages protected, so the survey drives the sizes and the local authority drives the appearance. In the newer housing the openings are consistent and the argument is about performance and finish, where an A plus rating, a U-value of 1.3 W/m²K as standard and both sashes tilting inwards for cleaning cover most of what people want. Denham is close enough to Uxbridge that survey and fitting are straightforward to arrange.
