Sliding sash windows in Charlbury
A small stone town in the Evenlode valley on the edge of Wychwood, built tight and built to last.
What is built in Charlbury
Charlbury is a compact Cotswold town of stone houses and cottages stepping down toward the Evenlode, with a historic core of seventeenth to nineteenth century frontages, a good deal of it protected, and narrow lanes that constrain access. Later stone and brick housing fills in around the centre, and twentieth century development sits toward the station and the edges of the town, where the openings are conventional.
What that means for your windows
Small stone towns concentrate two practical problems in the same place: openings that need individual measurement, and lanes that make delivery and fitting a logistical question as much as a technical one. Both are things a survey settles in advance. Visually, the useful choices on stone are texture and shade, and the woodgrain foils in Golden Oak, Irish Oak or Rosewood tend to sit better against Cotswold stone than a flat white frame does.
Two ways to buy in Charlbury
Charlbury is inside the area our own fitting teams cover, so you can have the whole job done by one company. You can also buy the windows on their own if you have a builder already, which is how most trade customers order.
- Supplied and fitted. We survey your openings before anything is ordered, so the sizes are our responsibility rather than yours. Our own teams fit, take the old windows away and make good the plaster line, and you get a FENSA certificate and an insurance-backed guarantee on completion.
- Supplied only. You send a schedule of sizes, choose the colour, glass, hardware and glazing bar layout, and the windows are delivered kerbside for your own fitter. Popular with builders, developers, self-builders and landlords. On a supply-only order the sizes are yours, because nobody from our side has seen the openings.

Questions we get asked in Charlbury
Can you work on properties with restricted access?
Yes, and it is one of the things the survey exists to establish. Where a vehicle can stand, how the old frames come out and how the new ones get in are all part of planning the fitting day, and knowing them in advance is what stops the job stalling on the morning.
What is the most authentic-looking specification you can supply?
A deeper bottom rail for the visual weight, sash horns where the period calls for them, external astragal bars rather than bars inside the sealed unit, and one of the five woodgrain foils rather than a flat finish. Specified together those four are what make the difference between a window that reads as timber and one that does not.
