Sliding sash windows across Oxfordshire
Stone in the west of the county, brick in the east, and a lot of tall Victorian frontage in Oxford itself. We survey, supply and fit throughout Oxfordshire.
What is built in Oxfordshire
Oxfordshire is really two counties for this kind of work. West of Witney the building material is Cotswold stone, the openings are smaller and often irregular, and towns like Burford, Charlbury and Chipping Norton have long stretches of protected frontage. East and south of Oxford the material is brick: Georgian in Wallingford, Thame and Woodstock, and Victorian and Edwardian in the villa streets around Oxford, Abingdon and Banbury. Oxford itself adds a large stock of tall three storey Victorian terraces, many of them now houses in multiple occupation or student lets with a landlord rather than an owner occupier making the decision.
What that means for your windows
In stone country the survey matters more than anywhere else we work, because a stone opening is rarely square and almost never repeats exactly across an elevation. Made to measure is not a marketing line there, it is the only way the window sits properly. In the brick towns and in Oxford the usual brief is different: keep the tall proportion and the divided panes, get the heat loss down, and make an upstairs window that can be cleaned without a ladder. Both sashes tilt inwards for that, which on a three storey Oxford terrace is the feature people notice most.
Two ways to buy in Oxfordshire
Oxfordshire is inside the area our own fitting teams cover, so you can have the whole job done by one company. You can also buy the windows on their own if you have a builder already, which is how most trade customers order.
- Supplied and fitted. We survey your openings before anything is ordered, so the sizes are our responsibility rather than yours. Our own teams fit, take the old windows away and make good the plaster line, and you get a FENSA certificate and an insurance-backed guarantee on completion.
- Supplied only. You send a schedule of sizes, choose the colour, glass, hardware and glazing bar layout, and the windows are delivered kerbside for your own fitter. Popular with builders, developers, self-builders and landlords. On a supply-only order the sizes are yours, because nobody from our side has seen the openings.

Questions we get asked in Oxfordshire
Will uPVC sash windows suit a Cotswold stone cottage?
It depends far more on the glazing bar layout, the sightline and the colour than on the material. A window that keeps the original pane divisions and is finished in a colour that suits the stone will read correctly from the street. A woodgrain foil rather than a flat white finish usually does more for the look of a stone cottage than anything else on the specification.
Do you supply landlords and student property owners in Oxford?
Yes, and it is a common enquiry there. If you have your own contractor, a supply-only order gives you full control of colour, glass and glazing bar layout against a schedule of sizes you provide, with a lead time confirmed in writing. If you would rather one company carried the whole job, we survey and fit it ourselves.
