Sliding sash windows in Chobham
A village with a real high street of period buildings, surrounded by heathland and large plots.
What is built in Chobham
Chobham has an unusually intact village street with brick and rendered buildings of considerable age, a number of them listed, and the church and older lanes behind it. Around the village the parish spreads across heath and farmland with substantial detached houses on large plots, some of them period farmhouses and cottages, others twentieth century houses built on generous grounds.
What that means for your windows
Village street work here is period work, with irregular openings that need measuring individually and frontages that are judged as a group rather than one at a time. Out on the heath the properties are isolated, which brings both exposure and the security question that isolation always raises. The useful thing is that the same window covers both: made to measure to the surveyed opening, PAS 24: 2022 as standard, and tested to Class C4 for wind resistance.
Two ways to buy in Chobham
Chobham is inside the area our own fitting teams cover, so you can have the whole job done by one company. You can also buy the windows on their own if you have a builder already, which is how most trade customers order.
- Supplied and fitted. We survey your openings before anything is ordered, so the sizes are our responsibility rather than yours. Our own teams fit, take the old windows away and make good the plaster line, and you get a FENSA certificate and an insurance-backed guarantee on completion.
- Supplied only. You send a schedule of sizes, choose the colour, glass, hardware and glazing bar layout, and the windows are delivered kerbside for your own fitter. Popular with builders, developers, self-builders and landlords. On a supply-only order the sizes are yours, because nobody from our side has seen the openings.
1.3 W/m²K as standard, 1.2 with enhanced glazing.

Questions we get asked in Chobham
Do you work on period farmhouses and converted outbuildings?
Yes. Those buildings tend to have thick walls, deep reveals and openings that were never standardised, and sometimes a head that is not straight. Each opening is measured individually and shaped frames including Gothic, swept head and true arch are available where the profile calls for one.
Is a sash window practical for a very exposed rural property?
The tested figures say so: Class C4 wind resistance at 1600 Pa under BS EN 12211, which is equivalent to gusts of around 115mph, air permeability Class 4 at 600 Pa and water tightness Class 7A at 300 Pa. A colour matched weather bar joined to the bottom sash handles the driven rain at sill level.
