It depends almost entirely on the pane divisions and the sightlines. Reproduce the original grid and keep the frames slim and the elevation still reads as it should. A deeper bottom rail restores the visual weight of the timber sash, and the choice between Georgian bars inside the sealed unit and external astragal bars is worth making deliberately rather than by default.
