Sliding sash windows in Sandhurst

A town shaped by the military academy next door, with Victorian roots and a lot of later housing.

What is built in Sandhurst

Sandhurst grew alongside the Royal Military Academy and the expansion of the area in the nineteenth century, leaving a core of Victorian and Edwardian housing around the older centre. The bulk of the town, though, is twentieth century: interwar development followed by substantial postwar and later estates running toward Owlsmoor, Little Sandhurst and the Camberley boundary, with regular openings and conventional layouts.

What that means for your windows

Most work here is on twentieth century housing, where the openings are consistent and the decision is about specification rather than matching a frontage. The two things worth deciding deliberately are the finish, where eleven foils and any RAL or Farrow and Ball colour give real range, and the security level, where PAS 24: 2022 is standard and the Secured by Design specification is available. On the older Victorian streets, keeping the pane divisions is what stops a replacement flattening the elevation.

Two ways to buy in Sandhurst

Sandhurst is inside the area our own fitting teams cover, so you can have the whole job done by one company. You can also buy the windows on their own if you have a builder already, which is how most trade customers order.

  • Supplied and fitted. We survey your openings before anything is ordered, so the sizes are our responsibility rather than yours. Our own teams fit, take the old windows away and make good the plaster line, and you get a FENSA certificate and an insurance-backed guarantee on completion.
  • Supplied only. You send a schedule of sizes, choose the colour, glass, hardware and glazing bar layout, and the windows are delivered kerbside for your own fitter. Popular with builders, developers, self-builders and landlords. On a supply-only order the sizes are yours, because nobody from our side has seen the openings.

Questions we get asked in Sandhurst

How many locks are on each window?

High security cam locks hold the sashes, with one fitted up to 799mm and two at 800mm and above, so a wider window gets more locking points rather than the same hardware stretched further. There is also an anti-lever bar built into the sash and jam blocks at the top of the sash, and toughened glass is standard in both sashes.

Is the window reinforced?

Aluminium sash reinforcements are standard in every window built to the Approved Document Q specification. They sit inside the sash, so they change the strength of the window without changing anything you can see from either side.
