Sliding sash windows in Cobham
A village street that survived, with very large houses on the wooded roads leading away from it.
What is built in Cobham
Cobham keeps a recognisable village street of period buildings, brick and rendered, with a conservation area covering the older parts and the church and mill nearby. Away from the street the parish is dominated by large detached houses on wooded plots, particularly along the Fairmile and toward Oxshott, most of them twentieth century or later and many replacing earlier houses on the same land.
What that means for your windows
The village street and the wooded roads want different things and both are common jobs. On the street the frontages are seen together, so the pane divisions and the colour are judged against the neighbours. On the large houses the window count is high, the openings vary across the elevations, and a single survey covering the whole property gives a coherent specification and one lead time instead of a series of separate orders that drift apart.
Two ways to buy in Cobham
Cobham is inside the area our own fitting teams cover, so you can have the whole job done by one company. You can also buy the windows on their own if you have a builder already, which is how most trade customers order.
- Supplied and fitted. We survey your openings before anything is ordered, so the sizes are our responsibility rather than yours. Our own teams fit, take the old windows away and make good the plaster line, and you get a FENSA certificate and an insurance-backed guarantee on completion.
- Supplied only. You send a schedule of sizes, choose the colour, glass, hardware and glazing bar layout, and the windows are delivered kerbside for your own fitter. Popular with builders, developers, self-builders and landlords. On a supply-only order the sizes are yours, because nobody from our side has seen the openings.

Questions we get asked in Cobham
Should the front and back of the house have the same specification?
Not necessarily, and on a large house it is often better if they do not. The front usually carries the appearance requirement, so the divisions and colour follow the street. The back can take a plainer bar layout and different glass, which puts the money where it shows and the performance where it is needed.
How long does the whole process take from first contact?
The survey can usually be arranged quickly, the written quotation follows it, and the lead time for manufacture is confirmed in writing against your specific order once it is agreed. It is quoted per order rather than as a standard figure, because it moves with the specification and the time of year, and a date tied to your job is worth more than an average.
