Farnham has one of the best preserved Georgian townscapes in the south east, with formal brick frontages along West Street and the streets around the castle, extensively listed, and older timber framed structures behind a number of the later fronts. Around the centre there are Victorian and Edwardian terraces and villas, and twentieth century housing extends toward Rowledge, Wrecclesham and the Hampshire boundary a short distance west.
