Sliding sash windows in Fleet

A town that grew from almost nothing around its station, and kept growing, so most of it is comparatively recent.

What is built in Fleet

Fleet developed from a small settlement on the heath after the railway arrived, with late Victorian and Edwardian villas near the older parts and the pond, and then substantial twentieth century and recent growth in every direction that now makes up most of the town. The Basingstoke Canal runs along the northern edge, and the surrounding Hart countryside holds older village stock at Crookham, Dogmersfield and Elvetham.

What that means for your windows

Where a town is mostly modern the sash window is chosen rather than replaced like for like, and the specification becomes a matter of taste supported by performance. The eleven foils cover most of it, with five giving a genuine woodgrain effect, and any classic RAL shade or Farrow and Ball match extends it. Underneath that the same standards apply as anywhere: A plus rating, PAS 24: 2022 security, toughened glass in both sashes and a 10 year warranty.

Two ways to buy in Fleet

Fleet is inside the area our own fitting teams cover, so you can have the whole job done by one company. You can also buy the windows on their own if you have a builder already, which is how most trade customers order.

  • Supplied and fitted. We survey your openings before anything is ordered, so the sizes are our responsibility rather than yours. Our own teams fit, take the old windows away and make good the plaster line, and you get a FENSA certificate and an insurance-backed guarantee on completion.
  • Supplied only. You send a schedule of sizes, choose the colour, glass, hardware and glazing bar layout, and the windows are delivered kerbside for your own fitter. Popular with builders, developers, self-builders and landlords. On a supply-only order the sizes are yours, because nobody from our side has seen the openings.

Questions we get asked in Fleet

Will sash windows suit a 1980s or 1990s house?

Yes, and it is a common choice. On a house of that age you are setting the appearance rather than matching one, so the deeper bottom rail, the sash horns and the glazing bar layout become deliberate decisions. Check whether the property has any covenant on external appearance, which some later developments do.

Can I mix window styles across the house?

Within an order the glass, glazing bar layout and hardware finish can vary window by window, so the front can be treated differently from the back. What is worth avoiding is a front elevation where the windows disagree with each other, because that is what reads as unplanned from the street.
