The sash stock in Cambridge
Outside the colleges Cambridge is largely Victorian and Edwardian: the terraces of Mill Road, Romsey Town and Petersfield, the larger villas of De Freville and Newnham, and the brick streets running out toward Chesterton. The original sash pattern survives widely, and a very high proportion of the stock is rented, either to students or to the research and technology workforce, so landlords and managing agents make a large share of the buying decisions.
What we supply, and how it works
Where a portfolio is being maintained rather than a single house improved, consistency and predictability matter more than anything decorative. One schedule can carry every opening across several properties, each made to its own size, with the specification held identical so the properties do not drift apart over years of piecemeal work. Lead times are confirmed in writing against the order so they can sit in a void period rather than overrun one.
This is a supply arrangement. You send a schedule of sizes, the windows are made to measure to it, and they are delivered kerbside to your address in Cambridge for your own contractor to put in. The sizes are yours, because the windows are built to the schedule you provide and nobody from our side has seen the openings.
What you control on the specification
- Colour.Eleven foils, five of them with a genuine woodgrain effect, plus any classic RAL shade sprayed or a Farrow & Ball colour matched. Dual colour available, so inside and outside need not agree.
- Glass. Toughened in both sashes as standard, with acoustic, laminated, solar control and obscure available and specified per window.
- Detailing. Deeper bottom rail, sash horns included or omitted, Georgian bars inside the sealed unit or external astragal bars, and shaped frames including Gothic, swept head and true arch.
- Hardware. Eight finishes including Antique Gold, with inset finger pulls and D handles as options.
1.3 W/m²K as standard, 1.2 with enhanced glazing.

Can one order cover several rental properties?
Yes. A single schedule can carry every opening across multiple properties, each window made to its own size, priced as one order with phased delivery where works are staged. That keeps one written specification across the portfolio rather than a different one per job.
How much notice do you need for a delivery slot?
The lead time is confirmed in writing against your specific order rather than published as a standard figure, because it moves with the specification and the time of year. Once it is set, the kerbside delivery is arranged to it and someone needs to be on site to receive and sign for the load.
