Nottingham's Park Estate is a rare survival of a private Victorian villa development laid out on winding streets below the castle, generously windowed and largely intact. Beyond it the city carries an extensive Victorian and Edwardian terraced belt through Sherwood, Mapperley, Forest Fields and Lenton, a good deal of it now student and shared housing, alongside the Lace Market's converted industrial buildings.
What we supply, and how it works
Where a house is shared or let, two specification points come up that do not on an owner occupied job, and both are decided per window rather than across the property. A Fire Egress design allows a window to act as an escape route where a room requires one, and key operated travel restrictors limit the opening to 100mm where a hard limit is wanted. Security sits underneath both, with PAS 24: 2022 as standard and the Secured by Design option available.
This is a supply arrangement. You send a schedule of sizes, the windows are made to measure to it, and they are delivered kerbside to your address in Nottingham for your own contractor to put in. The sizes are yours, because the windows are built to the schedule you provide and nobody from our side has seen the openings.
What you control on the specification
- Colour.Eleven foils, five of them with a genuine woodgrain effect, plus any classic RAL shade sprayed or a Farrow & Ball colour matched. Dual colour available, so inside and outside need not agree.
- Glass. Toughened in both sashes as standard, with acoustic, laminated, solar control and obscure available and specified per window.
- Detailing. Deeper bottom rail, sash horns included or omitted, Georgian bars inside the sealed unit or external astragal bars, and shaped frames including Gothic, swept head and true arch.
- Hardware. Eight finishes including Antique Gold, with inset finger pulls and D handles as options.

Can windows be specified as fire escape openings?
Yes, a Fire Egress design option is available and it is specified per window rather than across a property. It is worth flagging on your schedule for any room that has to provide an escape route, which most often means a bedroom in a converted or shared house.
What security specification comes as standard?
PAS 24: 2022, with Secured by Design available as an upgrade. That includes an anti-lever bar inside the sash, high security cam locks holding both sashes, jam blocks at the top of the sash, toughened glass in both sashes and aluminium sash reinforcements on any window built to the Document Q specification.
