Manchester's residential stock is overwhelmingly Victorian and Edwardian red brick: dense terraced streets across the inner city, and the larger villa and semi-detached suburbs of Didsbury, Chorlton, Withington and Whalley Range, many with bays and tall sash openings. Conservation areas cover a number of the better preserved suburban streets, and a substantial part of the inner terraced stock is rented.
What we supply, and how it works
Bays are the recurring feature and the recurring problem, because a bay that gets flattened into a straight run in a replacement changes the whole front of the house. On a supply order the bay geometry has to be captured accurately on the schedule, splay or box, with the angles recorded, since the frames are built to what you send. Beyond that the usual city considerations apply, with acoustic glass worth specifying on the main radial roads.
This is a supply arrangement. You send a schedule of sizes, the windows are made to measure to it, and they are delivered kerbside to your address in Manchester for your own contractor to put in. The sizes are yours, because the windows are built to the schedule you provide and nobody from our side has seen the openings.
What you control on the specification
- Colour.Eleven foils, five of them with a genuine woodgrain effect, plus any classic RAL shade sprayed or a Farrow & Ball colour matched. Dual colour available, so inside and outside need not agree.
- Glass. Toughened in both sashes as standard, with acoustic, laminated, solar control and obscure available and specified per window.
- Detailing. Deeper bottom rail, sash horns included or omitted, Georgian bars inside the sealed unit or external astragal bars, and shaped frames including Gothic, swept head and true arch.
- Hardware. Eight finishes including Antique Gold, with inset finger pulls and D handles as options.

Questions we get asked about Manchester
How do I schedule a bay window for a supply-only order?
Record it as a single unit with the width of each face and the angles between them, and note whether it is a splay bay with angled returns or a box bay with square ones. The frames are made to the geometry you provide, so accuracy on the angles matters as much as on the widths.
What happens if something arrives damaged?
Inspect the load and note any visible damage on the delivery paperwork before signing, then report it within 48 hours. Doing that before booking scaffolding or other trades around the delivery is what keeps a small problem from turning into a programme problem.
