Questions we get asked in Alton
What are sash horns and do I need them?
They are the small projections at the bottom corners of the upper sash, and they became common on later Victorian windows as glass sizes grew. On a Victorian frontage they usually look right; on an earlier Georgian window they often do not. They can be included or left off, and it is worth deciding against the building rather than accepting whatever is standard.
