Edinburgh's New Town is one of the largest planned Georgian developments in the world, and the sash window is its defining feature: tall, formally proportioned, arranged in a strict grid across ashlar frontages. Beyond the New Town, the Victorian tenements of Marchmont, Bruntsfield and the Southside carry very large sash openings, and the suburbs add Edwardian and interwar stock. Almost all of the historic centre is a World Heritage Site with corresponding protection.
What we supply, and how it works
This is a supply arrangement, so the sizes come from you and the windows are built to them. That suits the trade here well, because Edinburgh has no shortage of joiners and window installers who know the local stock and the consenting position better than any supplier could from outside. What we bring is the specification: any classic RAL colour or a Farrow and Ball match, eleven foils with five giving a genuine woodgrain effect, glazing bar layouts set to your pattern and a deeper bottom rail for the visual weight a stone frontage expects.
This is a supply arrangement. You send a schedule of sizes, the windows are made to measure to it, and they are delivered kerbside to your address in Edinburgh for your own contractor to put in. The sizes are yours, because the windows are built to the schedule you provide and nobody from our side has seen the openings.
What you control on the specification
- Colour.Eleven foils, five of them with a genuine woodgrain effect, plus any classic RAL shade sprayed or a Farrow & Ball colour matched. Dual colour available, so inside and outside need not agree.
- Glass. Toughened in both sashes as standard, with acoustic, laminated, solar control and obscure available and specified per window.
- Detailing. Deeper bottom rail, sash horns included or omitted, Georgian bars inside the sealed unit or external astragal bars, and shaped frames including Gothic, swept head and true arch.
- Hardware. Eight finishes including Antique Gold, with inset finger pulls and D handles as options.

The product data travels: an A+ Window Energy Rating, a U-value of 1.3 W/m²K as standard and 1.2 with enhanced glazing, PAS 24: 2022 security, and Declarations of Performance under BS EN 14351, BS EN 1279 and BS EN 12150. Compliance with the Building (Scotland) Regulations is confirmed by whoever installs them, which on a supply-only order is your own contractor.
