Sash windows supplied to Glasgow

A city of sandstone tenements built around very large sash openings. We supply the windows; your own contractor fits them.

The sash stock in Glasgow

Glasgow's Victorian and Edwardian tenements are built in red and blond sandstone with unusually generous window openings, often full height in the principal rooms, and the sash is the original pattern throughout. The West End around Hyndland and Dowanhill, the Southside around Shawlands and Pollokshields, and the surviving central terraces all share it. Many tenement blocks are in conservation areas and a good number are listed.

What we supply, and how it works

Tenement work is volume work, because a single block carries many identical openings and a factor or an owners' association is frequently ordering for several flats at once. That is exactly what a supply-only order handles well: one schedule covering every opening, priced as a whole, with a lead time confirmed in writing and phased delivery where the work is staged across a close. The specification stays identical across the block, which is what stops a tenement frontage drifting out of step over years of piecemeal replacement.

This is a supply arrangement. You send a schedule of sizes, the windows are made to measure to it, and they are delivered kerbside to your address in Glasgow for your own contractor to put in. The sizes are yours, because the windows are built to the schedule you provide and nobody from our side has seen the openings.

Questions we get asked about Glasgow

Can you supply a whole tenement block in one order?

Yes. Send one schedule covering every opening across the block and it is priced as a single order, with each window made to its own size and phased delivery where the work is staged. Holding one written specification across the whole building is what keeps the frontage consistent.

How do the windows cope with west coast weather?

Wind resistance is Class C4 at 1600 Pa tested to BS EN 12211, equivalent to gusts of around 115mph. Water tightness is Class 7A at 300 Pa and air permeability Class 4 at 600 Pa under BS 6375-1, and a weather bar is mechanically joined to the bottom sash and colour matched.

Other cities we deliver to

Delivery reaches the whole of Great Britain, so a city not listed here is still covered. See how supply-only orders work, or the areas where our own teams also handle the fitting.
