Sliding sash windows in Ascot

Big houses, big window counts and long private drives. We survey the whole elevation before anything is ordered.

What is built in Ascot

Ascot is a town of large detached houses on generous, heavily wooded plots, most of it built from the late Victorian period onward as the racecourse and the railway drew people out from London. There is Victorian and Edwardian villa stock with tall sash windows and bays, a substantial layer of interwar and postwar detached housing, and a continuing supply of large recent houses built in a period idiom. Plots are well screened and many properties sit some distance from the road.

What that means for your windows

On houses of this size the window count runs high and the openings vary a lot between the principal rooms and the rest, so the useful thing is a survey of the whole house rather than a price for a few windows. Dual colour is frequently the answer here, with a darker heritage shade outside and white or a light tone inside. Screening and distance from the road also mean security comes up early, and the PAS 24: 2022 specification with Secured by Design as an option covers it without changing how the window looks.

Two ways to buy in Ascot

Ascot is inside the area our own fitting teams cover, so you can have the whole job done by one company. You can also buy the windows on their own if you have a builder already, which is how most trade customers order.

  • Supplied and fitted. We survey your openings before anything is ordered, so the sizes are our responsibility rather than yours. Our own teams fit, take the old windows away and make good the plaster line, and you get a FENSA certificate and an insurance-backed guarantee on completion.
  • Supplied only. You send a schedule of sizes, choose the colour, glass, hardware and glazing bar layout, and the windows are delivered kerbside for your own fitter. Popular with builders, developers, self-builders and landlords. On a supply-only order the sizes are yours, because nobody from our side has seen the openings.

Questions we get asked in Ascot

Can the outside be a dark colour and the inside stay white?

Yes, dual colour is available on any order. A darker shade outside and white or a light tone inside is the most common combination, and it keeps rooms bright while letting the elevation take a heritage colour. Any classic RAL shade can be sprayed and Farrow and Ball colours matched.

Can fitting be phased across a large house?

Yes, and on a big property it is often the sensible way to run it. The survey covers every elevation so the specification and the order are settled in one go, and the fitting is then programmed in stages so the household is not living with the whole house open at once.
