Sliding sash windows in Taplow

A small village on the Thames with some very large houses behind the hedges. We survey, supply and fit here.

What is built in Taplow

Taplow is a compact village on the Buckinghamshire bank of the Thames, with an older core around the green and church and a striking amount of substantial nineteenth and early twentieth century housing on the slopes above the river, built to take advantage of the view. Plots are generally large and well screened, and there is a mix of Victorian estate housing, Edwardian villas and later detached houses through the parish and out toward Burnham and Dorney.

What that means for your windows

On big period houses the window count is high and the openings vary considerably between the principal rooms at the front and the service rooms at the back, which is a case where surveying the whole house at once is worth more than pricing a few windows. Dual colour is often the right answer on this stock: a darker heritage shade outside where the elevation is seen from the garden, white or a light tone inside where the rooms need to stay bright. Both sashes tilt in, which on tall first floor windows saves a good deal of ladder work.

Two ways to buy in Taplow

Taplow is inside the area our own fitting teams cover, so you can have the whole job done by one company. You can also buy the windows on their own if you have a builder already, which is how most trade customers order.

  • Supplied and fitted. We survey your openings before anything is ordered, so the sizes are our responsibility rather than yours. Our own teams fit, take the old windows away and make good the plaster line, and you get a FENSA certificate and an insurance-backed guarantee on completion.
  • Supplied only. You send a schedule of sizes, choose the colour, glass, hardware and glazing bar layout, and the windows are delivered kerbside for your own fitter. Popular with builders, developers, self-builders and landlords. On a supply-only order the sizes are yours, because nobody from our side has seen the openings.

Questions we get asked in Taplow

We have a lot of windows. Can the whole house be quoted at once?

Yes, and it is the sensible way to do it. One survey covering every elevation gives a single specification and one lead time rather than a series of separate jobs. Developments and large houses are both handled the same way, with phased fitting where that suits the household better than doing everything in one go.

Can different rooms have different specifications?

Yes. Glass, glazing bar layout and hardware finish can vary room by room within one order. Obscure glass on bathrooms, acoustic on the elevation facing a road, and a plainer bar layout on the rear where nothing is on show are all normal choices to make at survey.
